Rabbit Hole by urban artist Seth Globepainter

Urban Artist Julien Malland became Seth Globepainter in the 90s when he began to paint in the streets of Paris. Looking to open doors to people’s unconsciousness, their youth and their dreams, Malland’s works feature a reoccurring theme of childhood. Seth travels the world, collaborating with local artists to highlight their traditional practices and exchange ideas. Drawing inspiration from his surroundings, he incorporates cultural elements into his art and turns the children into messengers of his investigations. Malland says he puts his characters into difficult social, political or geographical contexts to raise awareness on said issues around the world. 'Rabbit Hole' is located in Le Mans, France. It took Seth and 5 assistants 3 weeks to realise this beautiful, anamorphic artwork.

Jean Michel Basquiat: The Radiant Child (2010)

A thoughtful portrait of a renowned artist, this documentary shines the spotlight on New York City painter Jean-Michel Basquiat. Featuring extensive interviews conducted by Basquiat's friend, filmmaker Tamra Davis, the production reveals how he dealt with being a black artist in a predominantly white field. The film also explores Basquiat's rise in the art world, which led to a close relationship with Andy Warhol, and looks at how the young painter coped with acclaim, scrutiny and fame.

Pen & Paper with NYCHOS

Drawing from his art, what goes on inside the racing mind of NYCHOS belies any serenity his peaceful exterior may convey. The Austrian artist specializes in painting and illustration, using highly colorful, often dissected figures as expressions of his imagination. NYCHOS points this motif to his family background in hunting, an early childhood experience that has since grown into one of the more graphic styles today. Hypebeast got the opportunity to sit down with the artist to discuss early influences, evolving away from working with acrylic to work with spray paint, and more. Viewers will even get a look at a custom illustration made for Hypebeast in this installment of Pen & Paper.
